Canyonlands National Park - Island in the Sky & Dead Horse Canyon State Park

May 3, 2011

We headed north from Moab to go to the Island in the Sky portion of Canyonlands.  Another amazing day of vistas.  One of many memorable spots is Mesa Arch.  This is an arch at the edge of the cliff with a 2,000 foot drop off on the other side.  The weather has warmed up considerably and is now in the low 70's although it feels a lot hotter.  We also visited Dead Horse Canyon State Park.  Just incredible scenery.

This a plateau that juts out to view the canyon.  We just loved the vista it provided.

This creator was created by a meteorite that his this spot millions of years ago.

This is actually a trail that we followed going around the creator.

The Green River cuts into the canyon.

Mesa Arch.

The drop off on the other side of this arch is 2,000 feet.

Can you tell that we just loved this place?

How would like to drive down the canyon?
